Job Title:    Branch Manager
Salary:        Up to £50,000 depending on experience
Holiday:      22 days + Bank Holidays
Other:         Uncapped annual profit related bonus, Uniform, Monday to Friday, SSP + more
Region: Portsmouth

We are working with a leading merchant who are recruiting an experienced Branch Manager to be based in Portsmouth.
This role consists of the day to day running of a busy plumber’s merchants while maintaining and forging new customer relationships.
Duties include:
  • Managing a five-man team of counter staff and drivers
  • Transport management
  • Liaising with the showroom staff to monitor progress
  • Customer and supplier relations
  • Managing the branches stock levels and purchasing
  • Assisting in credit control
  • Business development
  • Assisting the accounts department in resolving invoice queries
  • Stock checks
  • The ideal candidate will currently be a Branch Manager within the merchant sector with a proven track record of growing and sustaining a profitable operation. Passion and determination will be a pre-requisite in order to build up a pipeline of new and existing business.
  • Taking responsibility for maximising the potential sales and overall profitability of the Branch, Business Development activity will be of paramount importance. It goes without saying that candidates will have a demonstrable track record in sales, negotiation and stock control.

  • Providing consultation, counselling and guidance to employees in order to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Ensuring sales targets are met, monitoring budgets and motivating staff to attain objectives
  • Maintaining detailed computerised records and reporting all branch office activities and operations, including the performance of employees
  • Communicating and collaborating with colleagues from other branch offices and meeting with clients to resolve complaints or issues and getting their feedback
  • Building relationships with other branches and providing training and coaching to the branch’s team
  • Overseeing financial reports for taxes, regulatory bodies and other financial institutions relating to branch finance
  • Evaluating conditions of the local market, seeking new opportunities for sales and staying current with the market

  • Branch Manager attributes / experience:
  • Excellent Communication Skills Are Essential.
  • Experience working to targets.
  • Able to demonstrate all of the above as well as showing an aptitude for success through confidence, accuracy and team work to ensure we achieve our service guarantees.
  • Providing an advisory service to customers.
  • A good level of computer literacy including Microsoft-Office especially excel.
  • Using Market intelligence and analysing Stock Profiles and Sales trends to anticipate future direction.
